This wall separation was induced by weather suddenly changes . From being super wet and muddy to dry 90 degrees F. were the hooves don't have the chance or time to adapt to the new conditions and splits open just like wood would do.Then fungus will be trapped under this splits and a vicious cycle has been created because this bacteria is going to feed of the new hoof growth.
TREATMENT: I glueded on an aluminum shoe , then I dremel cut the splits open and clean them well. Finally I applied this excellent resin product called "Well-Horse" (well-horse.com) which is a blend of resins from trees of the amazon jungle that kills bacteria without burning injured tissues and promotes healing. |
